Hi all,

Appreciate your help here.

I have just sold my Golf R due to the crazy prices of used cars, where I got more than I paid for it.

Looking to get into an M2. Budget is 35K. I am buying outright and don't really want to borrow any extra. I am torn between going for a really clean, low mileage M2 LCI, or do I go for an M2 competition, which will be higher mileage and probably not as good condition wise.

Ideally I'd like a manual and will probably only do 5000 miles per annum, with may 2 track days per year

Anything else to look out for? Will obviously look for high spec where possible

Thanks in advance

If you are planning on modding for more power the Comp is the way to go with just a map you'll see 520bhp/700nm, the non Comp will take a hell of a lot more ££ to get near that which would go towards a Comp initial purchase price.
Both cars are superb in standard trim with very little to be excellent on track, mine has Goodridge lines, decent pads and decent fluid, lowered and wheel spacers and I was blown away by how good it was compared tomy previous Clubsport spec V8 M3 Coupe (AP's all round, Nitron coilovers etc etc)....

Thanks. Not looking for massive power, as it will mainly be used as a road car and the standard M2 will have enough for that

You sold the R due to the high used prices?! Hope you weren't too disappointed by the fact M2's have gone up even more.....Man maths I guess......

It would be worth driving both but the Comp is the better car and worth the extra.
Thanks. I’m aware used M2 prices have gone up as well. I work from home and have another car, so happy to wait a while for the ‘bubble to burst’ and then pick one up
