M5 as a dad mobile

Hello all,
Currently have an Audi S4 Avant which I switched to about 6 months ago and just haven't really clicked with it so looking to replace it with something with a bit more 'character' in a similar price range (c.£25-35k).
The F10 M5 would seem to tick a lot of boxes and be good value for money but the slight complication is we have a little one on the way in November and this is our main family car (wife has a 5 door Fiesta).
Those who have owned an M5 of this era, how do they do as family cars? Obviously they have big boots but how much of a pain is it not having the estate opening? The ones I'm looking at have the split folding seat option so that should cover tip runs.
