Anybody aware that two M5's have recently changed hands for in excess of 12K. E39's look cheap in comparison!

One was an Avus Blue car, two owners and 72 K miles and the second one was an LE.....keep hold of yours and do it up and who knows you may be sitting on a fortune!

For RHD markets, there were 524 3.6 M5's produced from 89-91
For RHD markets, there were 343 3.8 M5's produced from 91-95

Touring M5's 3.8 LHD only, 891 produced from 92-95

Left on the roads in the UK today probably only 120 3.6's and 90 3.8's max.

Interesting...for some reason I always imagined there were more 3.8s than 3.6!

As said...I wouldn't mind either. There's just something about them that really appeals to me!

Family man question now...Did most come as full 5 seaters or 4 seaters?

Obviously, with three kids the full 5 seaters are going to be an easier proposition to 'sell' to my wife!

Thanks for the info on numbers.
The early 3.6's came with 4 seats, but many 3.6's and all of the 3.8's came with five seats, plus belts.

A second LE (Orinocco Green) one of 35 ever made....1995 LE 3.8 has also just sold for around 9K. The facts are simple.....spend some money on the car and sell it for a decent price, cut corners and it will NOT sell.

Lee post something up on the M5board.com for sale section and also on PistonHeads. These are the two best ways to sell your car and tell us about history, recent bills, interior condition plus photos.

the diamond black mettalic one with the ac schnitzer alloys!
You need to drop your price by about £600, put up a photo of the interior, mention more about the FULL SERVICE HISTORY, number of previous owners, EDC issues (any new dampers), Cam rebuilds, number of water pumps, timing chain issues and cat / exhaust issues.

A nice 3.8 LE with full history and huge bills will only get 9K and that has well under a 100K mileage!!!

I would look out for rust around the bootlid, check the inside edges of the tyres for suspension issues, check the EDC switch and drive the car on both S(Sport) and (P) Program. P should allow the suspension to move more fluidly. Also ask about the exhaust....has the cat ever been replaced, if not you may well be looking at £800 or more. Finally how many owners, copies of all bills, MOT's and v5's? Price looks fair but watch out these cars can be very expensive!!

S sets the dampers in their firmest position, P allows for subtle changes to how the car corners and rides.....S is firmer but set, P allows for flexibility and performance of the damper when driving much faster if that makes sense. I find the car faster in P than S, due to the EDC's ability to change how the car rides according to my driving style. I keep the car is S when driving normally.
