Hi guys

I'm soon to be leaving Porsche and looking to get a 03/04 CSL.

Any pointers as to 'must haves'. I know it's a sacrilige but I probably won't be tracking the car that often (if at all).

I know I want Climate and the CD.

Are the AP brakes a must?

There don't seem to be many black ones around - anyone know the ratio of black:graphite manufactured?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Impressive garage you've got there eek (Whats an AC Ducati though?)

Boring irrelevant question now about CSLs - whats your opinion on depreciation regarding them? They are astonishingly good value at the moment IMO....will they keep plummeting?

Is it important for a 'wide boy city type' like yourself to purchase a car at an inflated price so you can shrug off the depreciation question in those 'car talk pub chats' in a flippant & dismissive manner?

Yes indeed. I hope to Christ they don't start rising! Unless of course it's before I manage to get one

It's a PH thing with bikes, they don't appear in the list, hence AC, but just a normal Ducati 999R, sadly no longer, so thanks for the reminder swapped for a manic R500 which I have now broken weeping

For me the SB CSL's look slightly more menacing. I'm quite happy that the general unwashed can't tel the difference between the SB CSL and an ordinary M3. Those in the know 'know'. I'm not looking to impress anyone and I'm happy that it looks discreet.

My wife couldn't understand why we got the CSL as it looked so normal, until I took her out in it. The ultimate Q car!!

I think that the values will soon level out, and as someone else has remarked, it is a future classic along with the 964 and 993RS's. Get one now whilst you can still get a good low mileage one.

As to brakes, I thought the problem was more pad related, but not an issue for the road anyway.

You won't regret it.

I am now utterly convinced. I'm also starting to prefer the SB ones which is handy.

Hopefully I'll be in a position to get one in a fortnight or so thumbup

I'll let you know - thanks for the advice.

The poor things don't know. The silly Porkah bunch honestly think the C2/C4S are a match.

A properly setup CSL is better than a GT3 and nearly as fine as an RS...

In which case you have to ask why bmw felt the need to fit it with a V8 before it went racing against Porsche?

The CSL is a good car but i dont think its 'better' than a GT3 in experienced hands.

Bennno

QED...

He's disagreeing with you there though... Never mind - i've thoroughly confused myself regarding cars now.

Thanks chaps. I didn't speak to him in the end - I just put the concerns to the back of mind and dived in.

Thanks Zod

This is the one: www.pistonheads.com/sales/97542.htm

I honestly didn't mind which colour I got - I think they're both pretty cool.

Nice one C2 thumbup

Time for a name change?

Yup I think so. Feel quite attached to the C2 moniker now though...
