Morning all, after a 5 year hiatus I’m back.
Having owned both a mk1 and mk2.5 sport I’ve now purchased a mk2 2.0 option pack.

It’s in desperate need of some new tyres.

When I last owned mx5’s toyo t1r were the tyre of choice.
Having done a bit of reading it seems the current flavour of choice are uniroyal rain experts. I’ve used these tyres in the past on a mondeo which were fine and then on a Honda CR-V where the wear rate was horrendous !

So what’s the current recommendations and what are your experiences.

Pictures of new purchase , bought for £4300 at 77k miles.

Current findings after a week are;

Fantastic dry grip, really impressed. In fact almost too good as getting the back end out takes a good bit of effort.

Wet grip seems good but only had one dry morning commuting in the drizzle.

Now just need to fit 2 new springs as found both fronts were cracked when we changed the tyres, and it's desperate for a full geometry set up as rather woolley on the front end!
