What would you pay for...

Been out of the MX5 loop for a few years and trying to get a handle on values.

Not quite an update, but in my searches, I’m seeing a LOT of Mk2.5 cars for sale with the asking well over £3k, with quite a few at £4k+

Admittedly, these seem to be mostly very low miles and in very good condition, but still – who’s gonna pay that for a Mk2.5?!

Or am I out of touch?

What I'm asking is - while I understand why the cars are being priced at that - ie low miles and good condition, are folk actually paying that?

I genuinely didn't think there was much of a market for £3k+ MK2.5 cars.

Basically, I'm trying to work out if I'll take a bath in buying a good 2.5 for 3.5k or more...

I'm not limited to £3k, I’ve just been looking at Mk2.5s coz I like ‘em.

Oh and a circa £3k Mk3?  With the VERY odd exception, it will almost certainly bark and play fetch.

Is it just me or is the market full of dross at the moment?

Seen a nice Mk2 and an equally nice Mk2.5 but both are 2.5-3k. I'm convinced that's stupid money.

Am I wrong?

The paintwork was a bit more tatty than I'd have liked for the money. It ideally needed a respray and at the moment, I can't be bothered with that level of hassle tbh.
