I'm comtemplating a cheapish 4x4 the winter, and have decided I'd maybe like a Grand Cherokee/Cherokee to boounce about the cross country route I take to work in the winter months (approx 25mile each way, with say 10miles/10mile dual carriageway/5 mile town)....... Not looking to spend a massive amount, with the intention of selling on in spring (probably won't if I fall in love with it)... it's got to be one of the square ones....don't like the rounded ones.

what are the problem areas I should be looking for...

1) real axle noises (how loud should they be before you start to worry ??)
2) engine issues ??? what are they - probably 4l (might try for one with LPG, is that a no no ?)
3) rust ... where are they suscepatble, which you wouldn't see at a cursory glance ?

Cheers for the input smile

ended up with a 97 R reg Cherokee Limited in metailic red 4l with 67k on the clock ... decided against LPG... as I just kept thinking why are there some many being sold as spares or repair.
