I've run and maintained US cars for many years. Most regular bits and pieces are readily available in this country. Anything out of the ordinary I've always used either Summit or RockAuto, and have always been happy with their service. Until today...

I recently bought a 1992 E350 Econoline ambulance (I know...a few beers, eBay, surprise delivery a few days later; it was a 40' skool bus last year!). It's been off the road for a good while, and last MOT'ed 2010. I took it for an MOT last week, and it needed a few bits and pieces, more specific than the usual filters etc. So, fired up the PC last Thursday (note the day) and ordered a pair of headlights, brake shoes/pads/wheel cylinders all round, water pump and massive great centre exhaust silencer. All for peanuts. Headlights £13 each, wheel cylinders £2.80! etc etc.

Came downstairs this morning to a pile of boxes on my doorstep, and now my week's sorted.

How the Holy fk can they do that? Less than 4 days from US to my door, over a weekend. It takes longer than that to get something from just down the road.

guessing you get stung for taxes etc ??
No; customs charges pre-paid. Shipping cost a bit, but not excessive, given the weight/size.

I was super impressed until I opened the package tonight.
Only received half the stuff I ordered.
Does say that the rest is being shipped from another warehouse.
Hopefully it will turn up this week
You should have got a summary of where/when/how many shipments on the final on-line page before you placed the order. You should also be able to track every individual part of the shipment.

In my experience, FedEx parcels are quickest, and generally have all duties paid at source. DHL/others are slower, and can get held up in customs. Be aware that if duty is payable, even if only £2-£3, ParcelForce, who take care of the UK part of the delivery, will add a £12 admin charge on any duty payable.
