Hi experts, I have my eye on a '71 Plymouth and the seller has provided some photos of the underside. The top has some bubbleng and scabs on a wheel arch and under the edges of the trim around a vinyl roof. Nothing too serious or concerning. Underneath though, I'm wondering if this is clearly beyond surface rust that a clean up, rust encapsulate and underseal will fix/slow further deterioration.

I know its hard to tell but on the face of it, does this look especially worrying or would you flood the inside of the rails with Dinitrol and use the car for a few years?

That isn't that bad ,I had a '88 e150 econoline with similar rust and she cleaned up fine
Ok thanks, that's reassuring. It's the stuff inside the chassis rails that a little more worrying as rust prevention products will arrest it but I won't be able to clean it off.

looks decent for a 70s car ...bubbles under a vinyl roof would put me off if its a keeper , see some that need a new roof once the vynil is taken off for repairs
Hmm interesting. At first glance I thought this is probably some scabs of rust where the chrome trim has rubbed on the paint overt time.
