I've just bought this:

Opinions? It's apparently Swiss made so it should hopefully be half decent! Would appreciate your opinions (whether they are good or bad!).

You tend to find with fashion brand watches you are paying for the name rather than the watch.

However, I like the fact that the date background is the same colour as the face. It's a small detail that so many watch makers get wrong IMO.
You're not the first person that I've heard say that about fashion watches. I only paid £595 for it from Beaverbrooks, don't really think it's worth £775.

Pardon my ignorance but if you're not paying for the brand, what else makes expensive watches so valuable? Build quality? Accuracy with timing? Materials used?

at £500 you gave

the government £83.30
The retailer £150.00
The distributer £50.00
Gucci £140.00
The watch cost £80.00

But its the same with most branded watches.....your buying the name not a decent time piece
So if I had spent £5,950 on a Rolex for example, would the proportionate breakdown you gave above still apply?

I've had a change of heart! I emailed Beaverbrooks today to see if I could change my order as the order status was still showing as processing.

Unfortunately, they've already sent it by special delivery today so I will be receiving it tomorrow and returning it straight away for this one:

I wasn't swayed at all by the comments on this forum, I just kept looking at the picture and thought it was a bit "bland".

I reckon the new one is better looking than the previous one, even though I'm guessing it's worth even less despite it costing even more.

I just think bi-metal is awful. Sorry.
What does "gauche" mean? Should I be worried?!

eta definition from Google:

Adjective
Lacking ease or grace; unsophisticated and socially awkward.
Synonyms
clumsy - awkward - maladroit - ungainly - gawky - unhandy

I believe that sums me up quite well smile
