Watches have always been a little cheaper in Europe.....Italy and Spain are great places to buy from at the moment and with the exchange rate @ 1.35 against the Euro it's time for smart buyers to pick up some cracking pre-owned bargains ........at this rate watches are 20% cheaper in Europe than the Uk at the moment.

http://www.chrono24.com

I have purchased 4-5 top end watches via this site and never had a problem.......stick with the dealers not private sales (although I did buy a nice Vacheron from a private buyer but ended up doing a face to face deal )

whilst enjoying the watches on the windows you will no doubt wish to have refreshment in the cafes.....coffee is £10 a cup and lasts 20min......but for £30 I purchased a superb bottle of Rippaso (in the cafe next to the Grand Cafe on the left hand side looking at the shops) and it will last you an hour, much better value .....Venice is wonderful ......enjoy

With regards to buying a watch from an Italian dealer, I have never had a problem, its normally a good indication if the have lots of watches for sale and have been a trusted seller for some years.

As you can tell, no I'm amateur photographer. wink

All in all a very painless process ... paid for watch on Thursday afternoon, shipped Friday and collected it today. Chrono24 dealer was Show Commerce which I'd read a number of reviews with. Very straight forward ... you either do a bank transfer or pay via card (or multiple cards) via the website. No payment over the phone for security reasons. I dealt with Riccardo who was very straight forward ... his English isn't brilliant but its 100 times better than my Italian so we were able to converse fine.tongue out

Judging by the number of watches and value I'm pretty sure he operates on high volume/low margin basis. Watch came with all seals in tact and warranty card ... registered at the dealer it came from ... very happy with the deal and the process.

Having tried the SD4000 on last year already, it was no surprise how its feels. Obviously thicker than the sub or GMT but more slender than the Deepsea which was too much for my wrists. The maxi dial and minute marker ceramic bezel just works for me and I'm not a watch collector, so this will be a keeper.

Very nice watch at a very good price......great job...wear in good health and enjoy smile

obviously no hassles from the Italian postal service for you folks on here so far, but I've heard many have issues.... did you use specific carriers?
watches have always been sent by fully insured Fedex ...........only a brain dead moron would trust the Italian postal service !!! smile
