Where to sell?

I’ve never sold a watch before, only ever purchased.

That now is coming to an end and this is where I’d welcome some advice from those who have previously sold.

Is there a particular website/company/forum that you’d rate highly from recent past experience? Buying from them I suspect is one thing, but is selling a similar or different experience?

I’ve dropped Watchfinder a note so I’ll wait to hear back from them.

If that doesn’t work out then I’ll try the Bay, which is interesting as I wasn’t expecting to get any recommendations for there, so thanks.

I am picking it up from a Rolex AD on Saturday as it’s been away for a routine service so may ask if they’re interested. Wasn’t aware that ADs dealt in second hand watches, so thanks for the prompt.

Just heard back from Watchfinder; don’t think they read my full description

Have highlighted again that it’s a non-standard variant and invited them to requote.

Watchfinder did come back to me. Their new offer was double the original (they hadn’t read the description properly). So now I have an idea that should help things.

When I collect it from my AD tomorrow after it’s service I’ll ask if they’re interested in it.

So got it back from it’s service.

AD were interested but advised me not to sell it. They suggested it had much further to rise due to both its relative rarity and the fact that there remained a shortage of new SS Rolexes, forcing up the prices of second hand ones.

In a major city centre store they didn’t have a single SS sports variant for sale. It wasn’t so much they were coming in and selling quickly; they just weren’t coming in!

All a bit odd this watch malarkey! But fun at the same time.

Now that I’m not selling (on the advice of my AD, who would have taken it in to sell); here it is in all its post-service stickered glory!

I’ll leave it stickered up and put it away so that there’s no degradation in condition.

I therefore took the opportunity to order a new Batman, which I was told could arrive anytime in the next 12 months...
