I just sold mine for £17k to a dealer, cash (figuratively) not SOR etc.
2018 one, black face.
Absolutely ridiculous, I know Rolex aficionados will tell me I am wrong, but 75%+ overs for a non-limited run of the mill SS Sports watch, seems too toppy to me.
Then again I never pick the right time when it comes to selling things!
I’ve gone back to a DJ, steel, yes it’s still expensive / valuable but not £15+ sitting on your wrist!

I think mine is 2013, black face - even that old thing seems to be worth a lot more than I paid new 6 years ago, and I paid £1k over list then!2018 one, black face.

Sadly, mine has some sentimental value so won't be sold - even though ~£15k would be pretty handy right now!
I keeping looking at Daytona’s but can’t bring myself to pulling the trigger. I don’t think they are worth it and I’m convinced the Rolex market will slow down.
I don’t believe there is a shortage worldwide and there are hundreds for sale on various websites. Some of the watches have been advertised for a long time and you don’t know how much they are trading for.
I feel more comfortable waiting to seek how the market is in 12-24 months.

I think you'll be waiting a long time...I put my name on the 'interested' list at my dealer 2 years ago. They have continued to increase in value ever since!!I don’t believe there is a shortage worldwide and there are hundreds for sale on various websites. You can get a proper one (vintage, five digit, Zenith movement, full set) for that.
I still chuckle when I read posts by people who seem to think that markets in collectible items should have any logic attached to them. We are talking expensive watches. They’re unnecessary trinkets. Not one person on this planet needs one when a few tenners buys a watch that’s accurate and reliable and tough.
So let it go! The values and trends can be interesting, but there’s no point thinking any more of it than that.

It's insane really and you cant even tell time with the black one. Dial is so unreadable in low light. Get a used AP Royal Oak Offshore instead, that's what I'd do.
Not just the black faced ones - I had a steel faced one and in the end sold it on and bought an Explorer II instead, which I can tell the time on at a glance...Skyman said:

I paid £9,750 for my Daytona in 1993. If it is “worth” £26k today that’s an annualised return of 4%.
The annualised total return on the MSCI World Index (eg a global equity investment) over that period is about 8.3%, which would give a value of just over £70k.

They’ve only gone up in price in the last few years. Mine has double in six years. Immaterial, as I’m keeping it. I paid £9,750 for my Daytona in 1993. If it is “worth” £26k today that’s an annualised return of 4%.

Indeed. Agree with all of that. Nonetheless, I advance the theory that one can overlay logic to the madness. Hence a nice, vintage Zenith is far more worthy of attention than a bland, modern, overweight cousin.
In your opinion?Tony1963 said:
