laugh That’s not true though is it? Do their adverts or displays show watches covered in stickers or brochure state that they come with them?
Would you ask the same when buying a new car?
If i were buying the car as an investment i might? I would have thought that what ever is in the box is your property? So if they kept the box, would that be ok??

I viewed a Daytona at an independent store a month a few months back, think it was up for about £25k rolleyes

But with the box they had the papers, warranty, receipts etc. from Fraser Hart, dated October 2019..

So it seems in that case the watch was supplied with everything (and almost immediately flipped...)
Thats because it was bought from Frazer Hart and not one if the WOS group.

I bought a stainless steel Submariner Date from Mappin & Webb, Cambridge on Saturday 23 November 2019 and they withheld the warranty card and removed all the plastic protection. I was given a colour copy of the warranty card. While I was buying my Submariner I asked if I could take the warranty card for my son's stainless steel Submariner Date he bought from the same store on December 23 2018 and was told no, he will receive a call after 23 December inviting him back to the store to pick up his warranty card.
If he calls them now,i bet they say he can get it now. This was brought in a couple of days ago, shop staff didnt know this was happening.

It’s because Rolex has been threatened with court action......so it’s a company wide decision now to release the cards.
With the greatest respect i dont believe that,im not calling you a liar, but holding onto the cert cards was brought in by Wos group and not Rolex, plus i cant see Wos group lawyers not having a water tight contract of sale or whatever its called? But to be fair i have heard about that court thing? I would like to see any info on that?

I’ve had it confirmed from 2 separate WOS ADs that this is no longer a policy, any cards held by them can be collected. It wasn’t just policy of WOS it was also policy of Rolex shops, that has also ceased and been confirmed to me this morning.

I believe that it was brought about by a smaller retailer being sued and lost.

The what’s and why’s aren’t really important tbh. It was designed to halt flippers and it was a crap tactic to start with.
I think it was brought in by Wos group. Harrods never stopped giving out cards. As i said it wasnt a Rolex directive. And i agree with you there,i thought it was a crap idea.

Interesting; my most recent experience was an AD now holding onto a Tudor card for 12-months and Rolex SS cards for 24-months (this was back in October).
If it was part of the Wos group you will get the card. If it was an indy AD thats down to them , but i should think they will follow suit. This was only brought in this week, so even if you bought a watch last sunday the AD would still have kept the card.

Frazer Hart (York) are also holding onto cards .... mate had his kept from his Daytona and more recently his 43mm SD.

I also ordered a 43mm SD and they said that they would retain the warranty card for 12 months.
As i said before this was brought in by Wos group and NOT rolex. So if Frazer Hart are still keeping the cards thats there call. Not all AD’s were keeping cert cards I belive Harrods were one? And i bet Frazer Hart will soon change its policy??

That letter says that Rolex do not dictate to AD’s it does not say its a direct order? If that was the case why were Harrods still giving cards?

I put the OP to let people know that Wos group are now scrapping the card holding.

I bought my watch this time last year, they kept the card which I collected last week, the sales guy told me a customer was unhappy with this issue and took it court and won, now they sell the watches and give the cards out.

I keep reading this but as yet have not seen any actual proof of this happening. Im not saying its not true but firstly Wos group or Aurum as it was then im sure would have gone over what they can and cannot do with a fine tooth comb? And im not a expert but when you buy said watch you agree to the terms and conditions?? ie if you dont like the terms dont buy it! But as i said im not an expert. I actually asked Brian Duffy about this and he never said anything to me about a court case. I think its all rumours, like when shop staff tell people that a model is going to be discontinued, the truth is no one knows not even the CEO of Wos until it happens!

More than likely, I queried the keeping of the card at the time but it was no issue to me, upon collection he told me they don’t keep them no more.

Will more than likely never know the truth, they should do the same with Porsche gt cars ??

Carl
Hahaha funny you say that, i know a top guy at a porsche main dealer that nearly lost his job for taking back handers on GT’s. So same thing as the AD’s. Oh well money talks i suppose....
