My mrs was supposed to have put an order in for a SS Daytona a few months back, ready for my 40th in just over 2 years, yesterday I decided to check and I was told that the dealers only thought it was an enquiry and not an order as no money actually changed hands, even though she did provide a CC for a deposit to be taken mad, checked the statement and they didn't so fair enough but annoying just the same and now I have no order in with Rolex and don't want to pay for a 2nd hand one, i believe the waiting list is 3 years

What should i be putting down as a deposit and i'm assuming that some dealer will get preference over others, so on that basis are there any dealers that I should be talking to ensure earlier delivery rather than sticking with my local guy?

they didn't but we were told it was about 2 1/2 years, which would work out about right.

Anyone have any thoughts on the best place to place a firm order?

Managed to get onto 1 list but i'm being told 7-10 years and ideally I want one in just over 2years time, no deposit which worries me! Phoned mappin and webb and waiting for them to come back and see what they have to say, i'm also in Geneve airport in a few weeks so will do some digging but would much prefer to find a UK jeweller, place a deposit and not get messed about and have faith that they will deliver.

Can anyone point me in more of a direction or have any insight to help me?

I went to the Rolex shop in the airport on sat, they were so unhelpful it was unreal and quoted 6years minimum, getting a tad desperate now, don't want to really fly to the caribbean and not find one, really would prefer to buy in the UK. Can anyone put me onto someone decent that might be able to help??

Is this the one inside departures? If so, they categorically told me 6 years, then again it was 7.55 and they were closing!

They do seem to turn up quickly when you 'know someone'. Friend of mine does a lot of business with a jeweller who is an AD for Rolex, I asked if he could do me a favour and ask him to put me on the wait list.. was expecting a couple of years min if at all - 4 weeks later I was told I could collect it from him.
Would you be prepared to share the identity of the dealer with me? If so PM me
