Can anyone recommend an interesting backdrop in Hertfordshire (or maybe just into Essex or Beds) to take some static car shots?

I've seen the thread on the St Neots photo wall and that is an option, but I wondered if there was anywhere closer. The Hertford sort of area would be good.

Also, please drop me a line if there's anyone out there who'd be interested in taking some photos next weekend (20/21st Oct). I can't offer any money I'm afraid, but you'd get photo credits and a mug of Starbucks' finest for your efforts. smile

Hertford Castle is a good call. Can you actually park a car in front of it for long enough to get a shot set up before getting moved on, though?

Depends what kind of shot people are after?
Rural/green/trees & grass?
Or city/urban or derelict/run down?
Well in my case it's a modern hot hatch, so photographic tradition dictates I'd want something quite contemporary.

To be honest, though, I was thinking of anywhere with an interesting back drop that's quiet enough to take some photos without getting in everyone's way.

Ha, fair enough. What car out of curiousity?

You could try the Maylands industrial estate in Hemel? A few nice options there I think!!
The arse end of Watford might uncover a few places as well.

For me, I like to just drive around until I spot somewhere that looks good.
Yep, I think a certain degree of driving around until I see somewhere will be involved.

It's a Suzuki Swift Sport on this occasion. Next month I've got to go through the same process with a WRX STi.

Oooo... I got a classic shape WRX. You taking pics of other peoples cars, or your own?
Other people's I'm afraid. It's a series of road tests for a friend's website (http://www.racingandwaiting.co.uk/).

It's quite a nice location but unfortunately you're in range of wayward balls.
I wasn't aware it was that sort of photography.

Hanbury Manor off the A10 at Ware.

A couple of nice backdrops could be suitable?
Good call. That's nice and local.

Any more for any more?

i understand that i am technically in the wrong area forum but...

if anyone wants to use the grounds of a large private estate in Stanmore (8 miles south of watford) for any pics then let me know. its private (during weekends) so would mean that not many people would be around.

i live here (unfortunately its not mine)so drop me a PM if you want more info.

would best suit someone looking for greenery, trees, 1800's mansion as a backdrop.

Dave
Hi Dave,

Sounds brilliant. I think we're going to concentrate on dynamic shots for this one, but worth bearing in mind for the future. Bound to be of interest for others.
