Just returned from a long weekend staying in Thorpeness. I was lucky enough to take the Gallardo - some stunning roads aroud there - and lots of very nice cars out over the weekend.

We often stay in Thorpeness and wander down to Aldeburgh - if you haven't been I couldn't recommend it enough for a 'nice' weekend by the sea. Very smart, no charvers in souped up Novas and certainly no amusements. Just lots of great restaurants, pubs, walks, things for the kids to do. World famous fish and chips (Mrs HH queued 1 hr for some yesterday!)very tasty.

Played a round at Thorpeness - if you like your golf, it's a lovely course and very friendly.

And the best bit is that it's only 1.5 hours driving from home.

Quite right, if you want to break the world record for going round in circles on the Mere, I can thoroughly recommend a session at The Dolphin first!

I can thoroughly recommend it. There's plenty to do if you want to (e.g. as above, boating on The Mere at Thorpeness, walks along the beach, mooching around Snape Maltings, lots of houses, halls and castles within striking distance, some very picturesque walks, and some great pubs and resturants, good shops, including a wonderful ice cream shop, etc, etc).

Equally if you want to chill, it's a great place to do that - Aldeburgh is the much bigger town[ish], Thorpeness is a mile and a half a long the coast and is a much smaller and quieter village - has a great pub, The Mere, and the Country Club. Very laid back place.

We allways use Suffolk Secrets when we go there - they specialise in Aldeburgh/Thorpeness and Southwold and have a very wide range of properties for rent. Very helpful folk too!
