This is site has led me to discovering a couple near my childhood home .I grew up in Saddleworth and knew a station had been closed but had never seen it. I did not know about a second station, Diggle just up the tracks. I have ridden my bike over where Diggle station once was hundreds of times passed the signal box. I had no idea that this was also the location for a fatal crash many years ago. About 200m away there is the entrance to a tunnel that was blocked off at the other end. For those that know the area it should come out near Saddleworth School.

I used to have the Totem signs from both Diggle and Saddleworth stations in the 1970's.. The old station master was called Alfred Fidler. I still have the old newspaper cutting from The Manchester Evening news when it closed in 1968.
