Has anyone got one of these? And is it a good buy?
Thinking of getting one, looked at the beers available and seems perfect for the summer bbqs at home (price of the kegs aside)

Anything i should know before buying one?

but as Leffe and the beers I like are available in the 6litre kegs, is more prudent to get the larger one. Thanks though.

The only down side seems to be only German sellers on ebay

I know this is 6 months old, but did you find anywhere else to source the kegs? They seem to be sub €20 on the continent and available in supermarkets, but far more than double that over here and you have to pay hefty postage on top.
I love mine, always in use, but having been caught out with the UK cost, I now buy in bulk when I go over to Europe, makes the trip worthwhile.

I would like to know what beers are available, and where, as would like to try different ones

...I have also found a Belgian based supplier that only charges €7.50 postage for 3 kegs to the UK. The kegs are €30 each, so this is well over £2 a pint, but I don't get over to Holland with an empty suitcase that often!
Please share!

Am off to Holland next week for the Tour de France, so some shopping for kegs will be done. I often stop in adinkerke on the way to Spa (20 minutes from Dunkirk) and "XL" stock the kegs. Not a big selection, but handy for Leffe and Jupiler

Hmmm, I see a business opportunity. Daytrip to a supplier in Belgium/Holland.

Load the car, come back. Mail to customer.....

I have not tried the Leffe Rituel, but it sounds a bit too much to me as well! ...

Nice to hear there are a few of us with these machines, I think they are great!
I like Leffe Rituel, but not more than 1 stubbie in an evening, it blows your head. Am currently enjoying Leffe Brun in the machine, it flows nicer than blond.

Just back from Le Tour, and stopped off at Adenkirke, no Hertog Jan (tried it, want more) but 5 kegs later, the boot is full, and so is the beer corner of the garage!

Looking at the List a nice selection, but the issue will always be shipping to the UK. Although, I would imagine making a big enough order could offset the shipping cost.

Quite possibly. Just have a look at supermarkets. I find they're stocked in the smaller chains

Hi folks, I've started a Facebook page to try and help us all source reasonable kegs here in the UK and abroad. It's on facebook and called perfect draft keg tips. Please feel free to join, it's a brand new page so will take a few days to get my head around.

Cheers,

Neil

Beerhawk have started selling Perfect Draft online:

I think these prices are the price you pay for keg and beer (ie no deposit) but I might be mistaken.
EEK! I generally pay €15-25 per keg, plus a €5 deposit, £30 is almost twice the cost. But if Leffe, at least no ferry crossing, shame its a small selection

at the end of the day, the extra cost saves on the crossing etc. And if it wanted t get some Leffe for a bbq/event. That works. Supply and demand, most in the UK know of LEffe/Becks etc, so there is a supply. But it's hard to get in Jupiler (my preference) or any of the other "unknown" beers .

I definately won't be shunning the site, but I have 10 empty kegs in the garage to get refilled in Belgium...

I'm very close to ordering one, especially with the deals that are on just now. I'm just not sure how much I'd actually use it!
How long does the beer keep once opened?
How long do the kegs keep roughly? (Unopened)
They're meant to last up to 30 days once opened. I think the longest I have seen one last is 6 days when I went away for the weekend in the middle; you also find friends visit more with these machines!

I have a very cheerful rut with mine (when I have beer in) which involves a frozen 1/2 pint chalice in the back garden when I'm back from work and then another frozen 1/2 pint chalice chaser. There's something wonderful about smaller glasses of beer that are very, very cold.

The barrels have a best-before date printed on the side; I think my latest batch are bb June but I have consumed previous batches at 3-4 months beyond bb dates and they have still be absolutely fine.

Mine seem to evaporate very quickly, but generally they last around 2 weeks once opened.

The idea of half pint glasses works for me too, (frozen even more so, great idea!)
