Hi all,

I'm going to be going to the cities above, as per the title, including Rome, which I couldn't fit.

Just wondering if PHers have any good recommendations for some good places to eat.

I'll be with the family in Copenhagen and alone for the rest of the trip. I'm looking for the type of places that locals go to and would like to try some of the local cuisine in each country at some point.

Thanks

Copenhagen.

You want to get yourself to a good Smorrebrod restaurant, I have been to many over the years but can't unfortunately remember any names, Told&Snaps in Nyhavn looks excellent (I just quickly googled, no personal experience).

I also love the red danish sausage, sold from street vendors like 'Polsemannen' or 'Steff Houlberg'. Red sausage with fried crispy onions, mustard and ketchup is what you are after. Mustard and ketchup like no other. I love this stuff, but I'm not guaranteeing you will..

Yes we are booked into a place called Restaurant Schønnemann on the Saturday morning, which looks pretty similar to the place you suggested. Definitely looking forward to that and some schnapps.

Sounds good, will keep any eye out for them. Who doesn't love hot dogs and will be good to soak up some of the delicious craft beer that I'll be drinking lots of in Copenhagen.

for beer then you owe it to yourself to pay a visit to Mikkeller in Viktoriagarde - best beer in Copenhagen.

http://mikkeller.dk/location/mikkeller-bar-viktori...

There are a few good restaurants around the Flæsketorvet area - its the old Meatpacking district. Hipster central though.
You can't escape hipsters, wherever you go nowadays. Haha

Don't worry I'll definitely be going to Mikkeller, staying just around the corner from it. The amount of craft beer places in Copenhagen is awesome, certainly won't be going thirsty.

Technically Yugoslavian rather than Hungarian but a meat eaters paradise, reasonable prices too

I recommend the sharing grill platter

Warpigs brewpub is well worth a visit too. Probably my favourite if the hipster beer places in CPH
Yes Warpigs is cool and great food too. I was actually in Copenhagen last year, but did more drinking than eating, hence the requests for restaurants this time around. My favourite place was BRUS, had a nice atmosphere, good selection of beers and the guy serving behind the bar used to work in a craft beer bar that I frequent in Sydney, small world.

Berlin, hardly a locals place but a nice spot for a few beers and a meal, the restaraunt at the base of the TV tower, not the top, the base, its a nice alfresco, modern place to watch the world go by.

We also found a great little tucked away place by a river, bistro tables surrounded by grape vines and trees, however ive just looked and cant find it, sorry!
No worries, let me know if it comes back to you. Actually I think that I saw a place similar to what you describe in an article that I was reading the other day, but I don't think that it named the place, it was more about Berlin in general.

The Street Food Market in Copenhagen is well worth visiting, lots of choice.

Had some good food in Burgermeister in Berlin, but restaurant would be pushing it.
Burgers are good. I'm after food places in general, it doesn't have to be a five star restaurant.

Well worth a visit if you're a foodie.
That looks good, I do like the choice that you get in department stores.

Berlin.

Zsa Zsa Burger (Motzstrasse 28). Not too far from KaDeWe.

Freischwimmer (Vor dem Schlesischen Tor 2). Location is great and the food is ok. Good for an evening beer.

BRLO Brwhouse (Schöneberger Str. 16). Brewery with a very good menu and a real smoker. Might be biased as I may have something to do with this place wink

Wittys. (Wittenburgplatz). Best Currywurst in Berlin.

Curry 36 (Mehringdamm 36) The other best currywurst in Berlin.

Lemke. Brewery with svereral locations in Berlin.

Green Door. (Winterfeldtstraße 50) Excellent cocktail bar.

Stagger Lee (Nollendorfstraße 27) If the Grren Door is full, then go here as it is only a couple of hundred metres away. Another good cocktail bar.

Brauhaus Georgbraeu (Spreeufer 4,) Good brewery with standard German food.

Shiso Burger (Auguststraße 29 c). One of the best burgers I have ever eaten. Gets busy though.

Diener Tattersall (Grolmanstraße 47). Traditional Berliner pub with down to earth food.

There are lots more if you need any more suggestions.
Thanks, looks like a nice little list, should keep me going for a day or two.

Oh really, what is your connection then? It looks like a cool place and a nice selection of beers.

Three of the best meals I've ever had were in Berlin; twice at Reinstoff and once at Horvath. Neither are cheap and you'll need to book, but they were both excellent. If you go to Reinstoff get the "near" menu (which is local ingredients) rather than the more expensive "far" menu (things like lobster and foie gras).
That's certainly some high praise right there. I do love foie gras, though, haven't had that for a while.

Came in here looking for Berlin recommendations as I'm off back there later this month, not disappointed thanks! Was a little underwhelmed by what I ate last time, save for Burgermeister which was so good I diverted past on the way to the airport for another! Really fancy the BRLO Brewhouse in particular.

Spent a few days in Copenhagen last summer and can thoroughly recommend Warpigs both to eat and drink, Mikkeller bars we visited were fantastic as was the street food market which we visited a couple of times for lunch.

http://copenhagenstreetfood.dk/en/

Also, might not be everyones cup of tea, but I really enjoyed an afternoon at the Carlsberg museum, they're actually producing some pretty nice stuff under their Jacobson banner.

Sounds like a great trip you have lined up!
I'm glad that someone else can get some recommondeations. Yes Warpigs is great, both the beer and food and I even bought a t shirt from there.

I went last time but it was late on a Sunday and most places were closed except for an Asian place. It was terrible, no better than what you can get at the supermarket. Will have to try some of the other places this time around.

Thanks, I can't wait. Flying out tomorrow, to the UK first and then onto the rest of the places after that.
