Must Eat Places in Barcelona
Discussion
So after a recent, abrupt and unexpected end to a relationship I find myself with a flight to Girona and nowhere to go any longer.
Not to despair, I have sorted myself accommodation in Barcelona, a city which I have yet to visit but is right up there on my to do list.
Good food (and drink) will be high on my agenda, but as I'm going solo I'd say more social, casual, tapas, street food type places are preferred over top end restaurants where I fear I would look a massive oddball.
I am there a week, so plenty of time to sample the delights.

Brilliant!
Thanks for the responses, seems like I'm not going to go hungry!!!
I am a little aware of being on my own, not just feeling out of place but as mentioned being robbed etc.. I am pretty savvy though so hopefully be ok.
While I said more casual places, some of the restaurants mentioned do sound superb! I'm used to dining alone with working away, but generally in the kind of place you can just blend in and read a book.

Just back yesterday.
La Boqueria on La Rambla for casual seafood dining and an array of foodie stalls.
Loads of good fish restaurants that are casual in Barceloneta down by the harbour.
Tapas 24.
Also at at Disfrutar and His which where both near the hotel and have michelin stars, the first being the better of the two but both excellent.
As for the dogginess and pickpockets on La Rambla, it seemed fine, got offered drugs a few times though but thats the case in a lot of cities. I quite liked walking down the sidestreets off La Rambla at night, Mrs Sy1441 was less than impressed with this lol.
