I know this is a bit dull, but my old cheese knife broke. No problem, pop into town, buy a new one. No one had one.

Okay so, Amazon. Looked at some, read the reviews, picked a Sabatier (which I thought was a reasonable make). It arrived two days later and it's rubbish, just crumbles the cheese when trying to slice.

Next stop, head for the nearest city, specifically John Lewis. Can't go wrong with John Lewis, right? Wrong - they do do one, but it's out of stock. Tried a few other shops, no joy.

So where have all the cheese knives gone? And how do I buy one?

This is the late lamented cheese knife, I just want another one like this.

I have a Global cheese knife. It came from Lakeland. Wasnt cheap but it is very good. No crumbling of cheese. We use it almost every day.
Tried Lakeland - couldn't find one suitable.

TK Maxx. They have a massive range of knives.
This is a good shout, I've got some really good knives out of TK Maxx.

Serious question though, in what way is a specific cheese knife better than just using a knife?
See the holes? They prevent the cheese sticking to the knife which would cause drag and could lead to the slice splitting/crumbling.
Exactly! That's what is wrong with the cheese knife I bought from Amazon. No holes.

Just ordered this one - £15 turned into £25 by the time VAT and postage was added, but still plenty cheaper than the other one being mentioned (which I'm sure is v good).

And it'll be here tomorrow, hopefully before lunch so I can make a fine cheese sandwich with it. smile

More cheese Grommit?
