Trying to sort some wine for the wedding and the red we want (Beyerskloof Pinotage Synergy - chosen as we've been to their vinyard in SA and its in budget) has come onto offer which will save us some cash - only thought is to how many bottles to get....

Thoughts are just Red & White for the meal & evening plus bubbly for the toast/evening should people want it. We supply all booze for day and evening and it's served to guests for £1.20 pp - a no brainer, we'll hit the supermarkets/costco nearer the time but the red should keep and is now on offer..

Total is 95 adults for the day, plus another 50 or so for the evening. Not many elderly and a good few in their 20's-30's....that drink like fish...

Main food is pork/seafood starter and Lamb main so red will likely be more popular - plus whatever isn't drunk we'll keep and polish off at a bottle or 2 a month...tables arranged as 10x 10 people...

Current thoughts are:

Bubbly: 24 bottles
Red: 48 bottles
White: 24 bottles

Sound about right?

Never underestimate the ability of tubby spinsters to consume white wine at a wedding. Post-consumption, they'll often be seen walking barefoot in the car park, carrying their own shoes and crying.
Not many coming thankfully!

Think the white will be ramped to 30 bottles - as I'll get it shortly before the wedding I can always take that back after...(whats not drunk obviously)

Thanks all - will up the bubbly ratio and maybe even the wine too - end of the day we'll always drink it over the following weeks/months or take it back - same for beers/spirits.

The booze control process has already been incorporated into the invites and hopefully won't slip too much - a couple of tokens on part of the invite, after that we're doing a new drink for old policy....should help the staff too - the two tokens should help get 2 drinks to cover over-laps too.

We bought 75 bottles of bubbly, 150 bottles of wine, 400 cans of beer

150 guests (30 of which were children)

All gone apart from 20 bottles of bubbly eekeek
Impressive!

Just ordered 60 bottles of red for now....lets see how that goes!

Plan was to get ~40 crates of peroni's, ~10 bottles of each of the major spirits (vodka, Gin, Jaeger etc.) plus mixers etc. in the week before and see how we go!

It is when the OP suggested they could "polish off" any extras at a rate of one to two bottles a montheek
Think I meant week...he says having had a bottle of white on a school night...
