At the Glasgow Hydro £5.35 for a pint of gassy German froth.

How much are you prepared to pay before before you go " you cannot be serious ", or do you just pay up
because you don't want to be seen as a miserly, party pooping skinflint, or you have an alcohol problem ?

I was paying over that at a Festival in Ireland 9 years ago tongue out

It happens and it pisses me off if I've paid a lot for a ticket. These days I only go to Festivals that let you take your own alcohol into the main arenas but then those are the festivals that also have decently priced beer options so I tend not to bother taking my own in!

At most gig venues the booze is overpriced - I still buy it but much less than I would if it was normally priced so two pints to get through a gig rather than four at a rough estimate. The sad impact of this is I'll usually miss the support band these days because I'm in a pub round the corner.

Our local festival (Red Sky near Reading) banned punters from bringing food or drink in this year. The result was a 30 min queue for the bar, and only 3 food outlets for a couple of thousand people.

At least the beer was only £4.50 smile

A hell of a lot more than that. With a Scandinavian wife and regular trips to France skiing, British prices don't seem too bad. Most city centre bars in Manchester are now between £5 and £6 a pint.

Depends on the venue.. E.g. Skiing you might get bent over for like 8 euros a pint.. Don't go to a high end club where its probably double that for a bottle of beer hehe

Upto £5 is whats expected though.

I went to a wedding at a fairly nice, but nothing out of the ordinary, hotel a couple of years ago. A bottle of diet coke and a single rum (something pretty standard like Morgan Spiced) with coke was £11.40.

Haven't been to a gig in years but loathed paying €9 for 500ml of beer at Le Mans!

That's why you load your car up with bolltes and mixers. You'll be the most popular person there.
tbh at a wedding unless they are properly taking the piss I keep the car booze for when the bar closes.

Given that its £5.30 a pint ( for something not that special ... Fullers IPA ) in the pub im current sat outside in Reading ..

Then 5p festival premium doesn't seem too overpriced

I suppose it has two possible effects, both seen as a benefit by the venue: it may help keep a lid on too much drinking to excess which makes it easier for venue security and possibly helps everyone have a better time. It also makes money for the venue. They'll see it as win/win. If the general public could just be trusted with cheap booze, we'd all benefit, but you know that'll never happen in UK. I speak as a skinflint former boozehound with a healthy dose of realism, not a holier than thou teetotaller, btw...

Depends where it is

Good wood revival is wickedly expensive (in my world)

But you are there and you don’t have much choice

It’s rolled up into the overall cost. You either drink or stay on cheaper stuff

I remember a group of 4 of use ordering g and t’s and the girl saying something crazy like high 30’s low 40’s or that area

Luckily I’m not a drinker

Ps I’m not a rich man

Mostly 5 quid plus for a pint in my local! What I really object to is 2.50 for a bottle of water at events!

Went to a match at the cricket World Cup a few weeks back and two weak beers set me back £13.

Food at events is even worse! Two crappy burgers and chips took me over my contactless limit!

Although the good thing about cricket is that you can freely take your own food and drink in (inc booze) so I treat it as a lazy bd tax.
