Name that snack

We're eating some Quavers and I suddenly remembered a snack from the seventies that you could buy from country fairs etc

They were like a small orange plastic square that you dropped in hot oil and they puffed up almost instantly.

Mum *always* had to buy some on pain of a severe nagging...

They were so much tastier than they sound, but what on earth were they called???

Yup, they were always cooking a bunch up at our local country show. You ate them hot and then *had* to buy some as they were delicious
