Not sure of the names for them but I am after

- Cleaver
- Big sharp knife
- Bread knife
- A smaller sharp knife

Are there any brands I should be looking at in particular? I've been asked to buy Global a couple of times for my brother in law and his missus at a wedding and xmas but I would prefer to spend a bit less than this if possible as I hate spending money on this type of thing!

Thanks, I'll look later on as that website doesn't seem to like my work laptop!

Thanks for the pro cook link, that looks like the kind of thing I want - the X50 knife block thing with knives for £100 is worth a punt for me!!

Regarding the cleaver - I use them for chopping up harder vegetables and cracking open coconuts. All my knives in the UK are ancient and have been hand me downs over years and years and hide in a Joseph chopping/knife block thing, in Sweden we just have the generic IKEA ones that many people have biggrin

I just fancy some new knives that are sharp and handle nicely. I appreciate that isn't much of a wish list and doesn't help much, so I'll take a look at that reddit link as browsing usually helps find things! As for dishwasher safe - don't care about that, I only use dishwasher for mugs, plates and the forks and knives from dinner, everything else gets handwashed.

Thanks all, plenty of things to look at I've not heard of before. My missus is thrilled that the process is going to take longer than the sorted by the end of yesterday that I had originally predicted thumbup
