So we had a thread on here about crisps.. how about one for oven chips?

I'm keen to hear peoples opinions on which ones are good, bad. or which supermarket ones taste the same as more expensive brand ones (if any).

Absolutely. Air fry makes them very nice.

And bhajis
And fish fingers
Ans samosas
And salmon
And breaded chicken fillets
while I get that many of you say an air fryer makes things better..this should be about which oven chip is best. pretty sure we all have ovens. but not everyone has decided to frvilously spend on an air fryer.

Considering the amount of people on here who say getting an air-fryer is a must for oven chips/oven onion rings I thought this comparison review/testing video from americas test kitchen would be useful.

Definitely these...

i was about to buy these from iceland but then read reviews on how their own-brand stuff taste just as good (and are much cheaper). it didn't disappoint.
nowi just need to find out what five guys use to season their fries so i can emulate that with these.

Bought the ALDI triple cooked beef dripping chips... gotta say that I'm not really that impressed. They just seemed abit dry were something you really had to have to eat with a condiment otherwise it's not that enjoyable. I also bought the McCains skin on fries (that look similar to the iceland version as the icelad one was sold out at the time) and they didn't seem to taste as good as the iceland one..

For me at least, the iceland skin on fries are top.

I do have some of the aldi skin on fries which I'll try eventually,

Further update on this. I tried the ALDI skin on fries....

Very good.

They tasted much like the iceland ones. These are definately my favourite and will be my go-to chips. I think mainly because the outside manages to maintain a rough/crispy exterior, much like the fries you get from Five guys (obviously nowhere near as good).
