Came across this from the guardian this morning,

http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/musicblog/2012/sep...

First impressions are that it is very dubstepped (Sp?) but enjoying it all the same, though it is not a patch on their older stuff!

I have listened through the whole album now, I think Supremacy and Madness are very good, some other decent tracks on the album, but tracks like Panic Station are just poor.

I am just hoping this album is a grower...

Right, further listening now I've bought it. After about 4 listens my impressions are that it is a bit messy and doesn't flow that well as an album. I hadn't read anything of it beforehand so the two songs towards the end with the different vocalist surprised me as it sounds like a completely different band! 'Save Me' is actually one of my favourites though! (if a bit auto tuned!)

Loads of the earlier tracks sound like others. 'Explorers' is a duller version of 'Invincible' for example, and 'Follow Me' is likewise very familiar. I wish they hadn't put that terrible Olympic track on there. 'Animals' is classic Muse with great guitar work, probably the best track on the album.

Overall better than the previous album but otherwise not great!

I love the heavier side of Muse, but also part of me would also quite like it if they went off down a more classical road - I like the instrumental track at the end of this one and the symphony at the end of the last one.

Agreed,

on the olympic track I just skip it when it comes around. I think panic room is a poor poor song.

Some glimmers of hope on the album though, really enjoy Madness, I also quite like the last couple of heavily dubstepped tracks.

I actually prefer the resistance at the moment but I think that is because I have listened toit plenty and it grew on me. Still nowhere near the standard of tracks like Plug in baby and the cave.
