Buying a Telecaster advice

I've been playing since last December and currently have a Squier Strat and a Mexican Fender Strat, both of which I really like, unfortunately for my wallet I really want to get a Telecaster to go with them now too!.
The problem is I'm trying to find a specific one, I really want sunburst with a white pick guard and a maple neck but when I've looked at a Mexican Tele in a guitar shop the maple neck looked awful, it looked really shiny even compared to the maple on my Strat(which is from 2005 I believe) have they changed the finish on them?, are there any options to get one with the darker/more worn finish other than buying one from the 60s
