This thread was inspired by hearing the Beatles - Hey Jude on R2 earlier.

The 'play out' at the end goes on far too long and is far too repetitive.

I can think of some other bands guilty of the same thing (but can't remember the songs) but the Stones and Meat Loaf spring to mind.

What songs seem to go on forever and irk you?

I wonder if anyone has ever listened to that all the way through to catch the loop edits.

I've got a couple of Gary Moore live tracks in the car, and I think that some of the bits in the guitar solos go on a bit too long. There's one where he holds a note for just too long, and another where there's a break before he starts up again, again too long. It comes across as him waiting for adulation, which is a bit distasteful.
Parisienne Walkways.

I seem to recall that 'back in the day', sustaining a note for that long was quite an achievement.

I'm amazed I've never heard of Caravan, given that I'm a fan of Yes, Floyd, Camel etc....

I think he loved the sound of his own voice with that outro...

You have my sympathies!

An interesting GCSE project. I'm sure he was angry, however I still think it went on for too long, and the producer (assuming it wasn't him) should have edited it down.

But hey ho, we all have differing opinions (not a bad thing!).
