Killer Bass Lines
Discussion
Inspired by some lyrics in the "......lyrics that didn't age well" thread, I was reminded of this Led Zep tune:-
I play the guitar, but I can recognise a killer bass line when I hear one and JPJ's work on this tune is - for me - astonishing
Another that springs to mind is Roger Waters on PF's "Money"
Any more for any more?
I'd expect stuff by Geddy Lee / Les Claypool / Flea / Jaco Pastorius

Some really interesting stuff, here.
I'd no idea that John Taylor's work with Duran Duran was that complex. I'd not heard of Jamerson, but that is some killer funky bass and perfectly judged.
If I may offer another example? On my usual Sunday evening "mini-hoon" earlier, I had "Aja" by Steely Dan playing and the bass on this tune was particularly satisfying:-
Chuck Rainey on bass, so the interweb says

Here's another contender; Billy Cobham, Electric Man, with the wonderful, and hugely overlooked, Rosanna Nocolosi killing it on her Fender Jazz:

I'm listening to this as I type.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOFu3PSw8hs
I've not heard this tune before, nor any of the artists, but it's fvcking awesome! And the bass player is nailing it and working hard.
Brilliant

That reminds me; thanks to a Rick Beato vid about a year ago, I discovered this AIC tune which I now play when I'm lost for stuff to do on guitar. The chord progression is really agreeable, but the bass player nails all the right notes:-https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Nco_kh8xJDs&feat...
