Hello, I've been set a piece of homework, and I need a little help with one particular question. I need to find out what "Real sequence" is, and I've looked for it on google, and have had no luck whatsoever. So I hand it over to you PH, can you please help?

Cheers, RR

"A sequence is the reiteration, one or more times, at a higher or lower pitch, of a phrase or the section of a phrase. If each horizontal interval is exactly reproduced, the sequence is said to be a Real Sequence".

Taken from page 16 Counterpoint and Harmony by Edward C. Bairstow.
Thanks, but I know what "sequence" is, I need to know what "real sequence" is.

ETA: I just found the definition, thanks!
