I have a 16 plate JKU with the stock 18inch alloys and duellers.

Would like a more off-road focused tyre, for light mud and track type work.

For some reason I got thinking that a 17 inch wheel might be better and thought about picking up some used Rubicon wheels or similar. Is the smaller wheel the right approach?

Anyone any advice on tyres?

Thanks

No lift as yet but i’m not ruling out a modest one, and a slightly wider track.

Some 17s off eBay sounds like the answer and I reckon a 245 75 17 should give roughly the same overall diameter as my current set up.

Thanks for the tyre pointers; i’ll see what is out there.

What specific Goodyear wrangler tyre is that?

Have been looking at the Duratrac variant, which seem popular in the US.

Plenty of wrangler 17’s on the Bay, but a nice set of Rubicon alloys keeps winking at me.
