One of the main reasons for wanting this forum in the first place - where does everyone go off roading?
We're planning a Thames Valley outing to a place near Aldermarston in March, but it would be good to get details of more, as most only seem to be open one weekend a month.
I am particularly interested in any around Somerset as well, as I promised my 5yr old that we could take her Grandad off roading next time we're down in Ilminster!

I am very new to this, just purchased a £1500 discovery and its totally standard.. I would love to have a go in some proper mud and im in Bucks, so have heard about Whaddon.. however i dont want to turn up somewhere and make a pillock out of myself in a standard disco, if everyone has got serious kit .. .is this the case??
Why don't you come along to the PH Thames Valley & Surrey off-roading day at Aldermaston on March 9th? £26 for the day, just turn up and have fun, plus they've got graded sections - white for complete novices on road tyres, red for slightly more adventurous on all terrain tyres, black for full on mud-plugging rollcage wearing nutters in crash helmets!Take a look at the TV&S thread and you'll see that there's a whole range of experience. I only got my Shogun 10 days ago, so it's new for me too!

Think i am starting to get the bug already ! Looking forward to this and once i have clearance from the boss tonight I shall confirm my attendance. Out of interest where exactly is it , i went on multimap and looked up Aldermarston, but could not find anything...
That'll be because I spelt it wrong, then. Try Aldermaston! Alternatively, try - http://www.4x4-withoutaclub.co.uk/

i live in Taunton and there's loads of us down here.
havea look at www.4x4adventures.co.uk as they organise accopmanied off road days- usually 6 vehicles with 2 guides that allow you to have fun normally in a thousand or so acres of off road space- i've now done 4 of them (which is surprising as they are quite friendly for standard vehicles)and i drive something totally unstandard. They are just setup perfectly.
you might also check the "getting out and about" bit of forums.lr4x4.com as a large % of the forum live in the southwest and there are usually pay and plays being advertised.
Excellent! I may have to drop you a PM before we next come down. My parents live in Ilminster, and my father in law in North Curry, so we're down there frequently. havea look at www.4x4adventures.co.uk as they organise accopmanied off road days- usually 6 vehicles with 2 guides that allow you to have fun normally in a thousand or so acres of off road space- i've now done 4 of them (which is surprising as they are quite friendly for standard vehicles)and i drive something totally unstandard. Guys, new to the UK and live in NW London. I used to be very big into 4wd'ing (1976 BJ42 with a 6 inch lift, 35 inch muddies and a 5.7ltr chev... was a beautiful thing). Are 4wd day trips a possibility living where I do? If so, I have been dying for a Samurai with 33's
There are plenty of sites around the South East if you want to turn up for a pay and play, plus a reasonable number of green laning opportunities. Whereabouts in NW London are you?Gassing Station | Off Road | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
