Well not been off roading for long, and the local area is all the same to me. However i DID go in the wrong areas in my nievity, and am now paying the price.

I HAVE BEEN CAUTIONED BY THE POLICE FOR GOING IN 'OUT OF BOUNDS' AREAS. Its been ages since i've done this but the evidence was put in here by me. DOH!!

Be warned, if you are caught in the area they will SIEZE YOUR VEHICLE. I may be prosecuted, not sure yet, but if you off road on salisbury plain stick to rights of way to be safe. I AM!! NOW.

I've bought my maps etc, so be safe, be legal and all is well.

THE RANGE WARDENS/POLICE WILL CREAM YOU. Three brand new landys were siezed sunday for going into flagged areas.

Take heed from the mistakes of myself and others. it will bite you on the ass otherwise.

I actually was put under the impression when i started going out by mod police, that i could go anywhere there was already a track. pleased with this info out i went.

Turns out his info was correct to a point, now i'm clued up after talking to the range warden i am sticking to 'candy strips' and by ways as instructed by the rangewarden.

what will be will be, my fault, my mistake. Keep you all posted.

but again, take heed, next time it COULD BE YOU!!

STICK TO RIGHTS OF WAY.

....On another note, has anyone seen the sort of tank graveyard that is up there somewhere? I remember last summer coming across the brow of a hill, and in the foreground far down below were stacks of tanks and stuff that looked abandoned....
That's the impact area for artillery fire. The tank hulks are used as points of reference (not targets) for guiding in indirect fire. Probably one of the most dangerous places on the plain as it's full of 'blinds' (rounds which didn't go off). They do try and clear it now and again, but even with extensive experience of the area it's somewhere I really wouldn't go.
That'll be the Royal Artillary firing range, they do hit the tanks now and again, but as said above, best to stay out of that area. I know where it is, not saying though, always observe the red flags, its not your vehicle i'm worried about, its the dead bodies someone has to clear up.

not heard back yet, hoping i'll get away with it as i've pulled all online content to areas i shouldn't have been off the net. now stay to proper by ways and areas i know i'm allowed.

happy laning.

ps help and advice on my new website would be nice ... www.tidworth4x4club.piczo.com

will add members area soon, ages since i've made a site.

normalbloke, it's no urban legend i know people who have been pulled by the chopper!! Things got very tight after a little girl got knocked over and killed by a guy on an untaxed/uninsured crosser.
It's not an army helicopter (although a couple of mates have been suprised by an apache when out on enduros at night), the police heli is in the area very regularly.
I live in Shipton and play golf at Tiddy 2 or 3 times a week......Never (EVER) seen it.
I live in tidworth, and have a very good reason to visit (DD) delta delta crossing at least twice a day. I have done for years now, and I have seen the police chopper in the area at least once a week. It just so happens that the plain around tidworth area is a favourite training area for the police chopper!!

years ago when i first saw it i started to do doughnuts on the tank crossing trying to get a reaction, they ignored me and continued with whatever they were doing, but yes, it is here on a VERY REGULAR basis and is only MINUTES away from its base.

What are they using? I see plenty of Squirrel training stuff about as well the obvious Lynx, Gazelle, Chinooks, Apaches etc.
Come on, keep up at the back...smile

You'll also see a Black/Silver Jetranger tracking Shrewton/Tilshead/Lavington on a high pressure fuel main.I've also seen Merlin and Super Sea Stallion floating about having a play, and boy ,are they big when you get near them in a Jetranger....
Quite, I nearly got tw*t*d by my new forest last week when a chinnock went over about 100 feet or less. Seen the merlins and apaches about as well. Five Gazelles about yesterday afternoon.

Whats the flash posh white one i've seen about, similar possibly to a wessex??
