Hi guys

Sorry if it has been talked about before. I tried doing a search and could not find anything. Most threads are about bringing cars from Dubai back to the UK. However, has anyone ever taken a car from the UK to Dubai?

What does it involve in terms of being right hand drive etc. I read some say that no RHD are allowed in Dubai, but then others saying that is not true etc.

Car in question is a 2016 C63s Coupe.

Thanks

I thought that RHD was not allowed here in general but you could get an exemption for classics and such like ... which you’ll not get for the Merc. I’m sure someone with more knowledge than I will be along shortly.

To answer a question with a question ... why on earth do you want to bring the Merc here? You are moving it against the arb and it’s value here will be significantly lower than in the UK. Surely just sell it and buy something else when you arrive?
Because if I'm only there for a year, I would have just taken it over there and then brought it back. Not taking it over there to sell it at a loss. However, if its not possible because of RHD rules, then rules that out completely anyway.

RHD cars are not allowed in UAE unless:

- You have some serious "wasta" (influence/know the right people) and if memory serves only in RAK/Ajman; or
- as mentioned, its on a classic plate.

Things may have changed since I was there though
Thanks yorky

Im happy to help and clear the doubts:
1) Anyone can import RHD cars to Dubai
2) No one is allowed to drive RHD cars in Dubai, even with the biggest wasta
3) Exception for classic is there but that applies for 25 years old car

My best advise is you sell your car there or keep it and then buy or rent car when you arrive in Dubai.
Thanks so much for clearing that up. Much appreciated
