I have been doing track days for over six months now (about 20 in total), and have had full day personal coaching on three of these. I really want to start racing but I am not sure if I am quick enough yet? Been looking at the Lotus Trophy and MR2 Championships. My best time around Brands Indy is 1:02 in my road going Elise as a guide to where I am at.

Thanks Nick, got my ARDS booked in January already, so I'm halfway there.

Guys, thanks for the comments, much appreciated. I’m definitely expecting to be at the back of whatever race I do, just want to be sure I’m in there with them at the back, that will do me.

Done some karting but not a great deal, so I know the race craft is something I’m gonna need to pick up quickly

Done a couple of races since I started this forum / topic. Went for the MR2 Championship in an arrive and drive car.

Second race weekend at Mallory:

Well done, 750 MR2's is a good place to start are you using one of Patrick's cars (Rouge MS)?

I didn't do any track days before my first races but it makes sense to do a couple of track days first, club racing is completely different from trackdays though.
Yeah, using one of Patrick’s. He’s not got so many out this year from Rogue but the grid is completely full up. Definitely a good choice of championship to start out, there’s good competition right the way through the grid.

It’s brilliant compared to track days, such an awesome experience.
Patrick and his team are very good, very organised and take away any hassles leaving you to concentrate on the racing.
He definitely wants to get some more drivers on board as well this season.
