What does everyone use? When I raced my dads car we used his van and trailer, but now I have my own, in the interim I’m going to have to hire a van and borrow a trailer.

Subsequent to that, I hope to buy my own trailer and replace my everyday car with something suitable, and hopefully less than 10k, for use as everyday car as well as towing. Tips welcome, what’s good and what to avoid?

Racecar is 600kg (saloon).

Apologies if this is better placed in general gassing, mod’s please move if deemed as such.

I think most van hire places don't allow towing - I'm yet to find one round my way (Cambridge) that does.
Ouch, yes, I’m just finding that out! Think I should be able to borrow a van for this season and plan on a more permanent solution. Thanks for the tip though, saved me a nasty surprise closer to a race date.

Thread update: I had been intending to change current small Hatch for a tow car next spring, but impending doom means we’ve just bought (I say we, I’m paying back the Mrs) a 2014 freelander HSE, picking it up next Saturday. Blimey, they depreciate! 38k list, 3.2 years in I’ve got it for 18k with low mileage, approved used, 2 year warranty.

In theory I get a 3K lump sum in December, so that’s trailer money (after tax), borrowing one till then.

Thank you to all for the advice!
