I am looking to build a competitive GT Car, however it is only for club racing and I dont have an unlimited budget so wherever I can save some money allows for an increase in other areas.

I want to push myself slightly and learn about CAN systems and so this is the ideal opportunity to build a chassis loom as well as an engine loom and for them to communicate.

I need to find an ECU which is capable of running 3xEGT (happy to run an expander), 6 coils and 6 Injectors, DBW and a gearbox control system. The car is running a sequential box so I want to run paddles.

My first choice was LifeRacing as this offers a PDM, expanders for Analogue/CAN channels, Dash and a paddle system (even a hand clutch paddle too!)

There is obviously plenty of additional spec on the set up, however it would be an exceptionally long post! However I was wanting to look at alternatives and people's opinions who have worked with the hardware for use on track with set up, managing data and fault finding.

Other options would be Motec, ECU Master I am reading positive reviews on, or I look at alternatives with a choice of ECU, maybe the HP Electronik PDM and an AIM dash.

I look forward to your thoughts.

ECU master everything for me, unrivaled flexibility and compatibility for the price range.

We ran ECU master everything in our Club enduro M3, silly things like being able to set a 3 min countdown timer on the dash as soon as it sees 0 wheel/gps speed, and running all diff, gearbox, brake and engine fans at full speed while your on the pit limiter to try and get some cooling through while your at slower speeds in the pitlane helped massively.
Thanks for the endorsement for ECU Master...I agree, and having been speaking to them, I believe this is the best way forward on my budget. They have a new Pro ECU being release soon which solves many problems and addresses some of the shortfalls of the black ECU, currently it wouldnt run our engine.

So yes...one stop shop and the way forward!!

Hi,
Just come across your thread, interested to know what car you're building as I'm starting a similar project with a Porsche 997.2 PDK rally car. I'll be using a Syvecs S7plus and the new Aim PDM/Dash. The potential tricky area is gearbox control depending on which box you're planning on using.
Tony.
Hi Tony,

Drop me over an email, your link says you dont accept emails, and I will give you some more information smile

From the looks of things the new ECU from ECU Master contains a built in GCU, I only need to control the sequential box so mine is relatively easy!

I know that AB Performance are doing quite a bit of work with either Svyecs or direct with Life to control the PDK boxes they are building to put into the Ultimas.
