I'm getting ready to install my fuel tank caps and, naturally, have some questions:

  • Cork washers used (either or both) or discarded? I've seen references to each way.
  • Funnel set in the recess from above or attached from underneath? I've seen references to each way.
  • Vent spigots pointing which way and attached to what hoses? If those hoses were included, I've yet to find them.
  • Are most people aligning the Ultima name perpendicular to the car's longitudinal axis (as shown in the manual) or parallel and facing outwards. Seems as though it would be more legible this way.

So, you fit the funnels from below?

From the top down: black cap, cork washer, GRP, cork washer, funnel?

Makes sense to me; that's what I'll do. Thanks!

In the interest of thoroughness (and my obsession for detail), I ran this by the factory. Their answer, received this morning, was that everything sits above the body:

Cap
Cork washer
Funnel
Cork washer
Body

I suspected that it might be this way after setting a cap and cork washer in place and discovering that the combination sat a fair bit below flush with the body.
