I need to replace my tyres and kumho availability is effectively 0.

What are people's experiences of alternatives for trackdays? I know ps2s are better on road, but they're rubbish on track.

Anyone have experience of toyo 888s?

Only got 1 set of wheels Dom.

PS2s go off pretty quickly on track, old tyre.

Now if supersport swerve available in 18 that would be a diff matter smile

Update for anyone interested.

Kumho v70s in 335/30/18 are no more - unless Kumho get an order for 100+ they will not be made.

Had a conversation with Toyo and the good news is they are going to be making the new R888R in 335/30/18.

Slight downside is the closest match for a front is 255/35/18, but if you can squeeze those on, there will shortly be a good track tyre available again.

Hi Daniel,
Unfortunately not. Toyo emailed me saying they couldn’t get the 335/30/18 888r through all the tests so the widest available I think is 295.

It’s obviously a Euro only issue as they are sold in the US strangely. But the cost of getting them over doesn’t make long term sense to me so I have changed to 19” to have availability of all modern track tyres

Same with me Steve with 888r’s.

It’s probsbly worth an email to toyo, they’re very helpful, they may no longer be producing r888s either.

Although 335s were a supercar fitment, those supercars didn’t tend to use toyo or kumho, more likely Pirelli and these older tyres are available, they’re just rubbish on track.

Only 3 options for track use I think:
Keep 18s for track only and put slicks on
Import 18” track tyres from US
Change to 19”

No cheap way unfortunately. I ended up going 19 as that guarantees the best tyres for the longest.

It’s funny, I remember speaking to Richard about going to 19”, must have been 2015. Wish I’d sold my 18s then lol
