my friend came 3rd overall in the 9e28 Porsche 911 Turbo, 195mph. £ for £ they have to be a performance bargain, £70k car with mods.

199mph that's a good effort. Which engine, Bhp and gearbox were you running?
It's a friends std 997 turbo engine but has hybrid turbos, uprated intercooler and race cats etc. 9excellence tuned it, I think it was about 20k worth of mods Inc suspension. Standard 4wd etc. It went 202mph last year with a tailwind there. 650bhp or so

650bhp in a 997 will do the trick

Have never said an ultima wouldn't do 200mph, mine will, eventually.

Have said you need a lot of power to get to 200mph at Bruntingthorpe. A 650hp Ultima won't hit 200mph there.
204mph GPS verified by an official from Datron Technology at Bruntingthorpe with 640bhp at the flywheel (not the wheels) on the American Speed bench dyno:

Regards to all,
standing start or rolling start coming off the bend? and over what distance in total please?

I've gone 202mph standing start in the 997 and 213mph in a heavily modified porsche turbo at the last 2 V max, was getting hairy for braking in the 213mph car!

Well mine has 640bhp on the AS dyno so it will be interesting to test it with my G50/50 On the 6th of May.

I expect to achieve 185mph but welcome the factory input in how i can achieve more.
very interesting, 200mph or bust! :-)
you can see at the last vmax how difficult it was, into a 10mph headwind, the veyron only managed 200 etc. last time out a veyron pissed 218mph in the same distance, albeit with a decent tailwind. the Nissan Juke GTR thingy did 222mph!

We tried a standing start and also a rolling start coming out the bend at high speed and it made zero difference= 204mph both times.
I'll have to see if I can dig out the data, this was 13 years ago. We had plenty of space left to brake and make the first corner off the straight and was telling myself off for braking way too early.
Got 380bhp extra and 375ft lbs torque extra to play with now. (same engine bench dyno).

Regards to all,
are you bringing it to vmax on the 6th May, will be cool to see how it does on v box on the day. the holy trinity cars are there also, and another veyron or two

Was about 1.3miles I believe from a standing start. Could have pushed the lights further but I suppose they have to play safe.
We did 213mph in a 996 turbo last time and it was getting too close for comfort under braking, we were past the turn off and into the last bit of parked cars before stopped.
