wire harness/connector for Ford Stalk

Hi Forum,

My Can Am is complete with about 100 miles of road time. Will post Youtube video this winter, as the weather in Phoenix is currently a little HOT! NEED Help. I installed the Ford Stalk switch on the column, however I had an electrical short and fried the 12 pin 2 row "J" hook connector for the turn signal side of the stalk. The stalk is common to Ford Fiesta's, Escorts and Courier MK3, years 1989 - 1997 Ref part number 93FG13335B2A etal. I talked to an adviser at a UK Ford dealer, they thought the connector was part of the engine wire harness. Any help in locating this wire harness/connector or part number would be rewarded with a free ride! I tried salvage yards but they need a chassis number?

AB makes their own version of the stalks and use the Ford's setup as a base.. They might have these connectors available (or know where to find them).. my harness from AB had these same connectors...

AB is where I got my stalk set-up. I contacted them, they don't support the Ford Stalk set-up (have new configuration), nor do they know were to find any more of the connectors? The Ford adviser told me the connector was part of the instrument panel W/H P/N FC-1021106 (ford escort 1995-2001). I have not been able to find that wire harness either.

I used the Ford stalks in my build and faced the same issue. I did manage to find loom connectors but then had the task of fitting terminals to parts that were never made to be used twice.

I found a solution by using Size 16 turned female socket terminals from Deutsch DT connector plugs. Crimped on with heatshrink support, they are a push fit onto the Ford pins. Then fill the space around the Ford pins with hot-melt or PU adhesive. Entirely reliable over thousands of hard miles.

The shocking cost of Deutsch crimping tools nearly stopped the project but then I found sensible priced versions for Size 16 only. The Deutsch DT became the standard connector throughout the car especially in places with frequent disconnection.

Great minds think alike. I do have a back up plan just like yours except I will be using Mil grade potting compound to fill the void in the stalk.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind. I'm thinking a weatherpack disconnect pigtail so I don't have to worry about removing the potting compound.

I may have a part number on the wire harness. I have a UK Ford service adviser check his stock/catalog with the photo I sent. I'll keep the forum advised.

You won't believe this! I was working with a UK Ford parts adviser trying to locate either the part number of the wire harness or the connector. As we know and he verified, nether are in production nor are they stocked. Well..... the Ford adviser went to the local scrap yard and found two sets of used connectors and is mailing them to me for free!!
I hate Fords (except the GT) but this just converted me (if I could afford a GT).
