One for Berw!

What is teh general opinion on kit cars in Malaysia from a legal standpoint?

Am in the early stages of possibly getting a MEV Exocet for a bit of fun now that i have parking in JB and KL!

It is basically an MX5 without a bodykit! would i be able to keep it road registered or would they get a bit arsey?

sounds like this falls under the same criteria as the porsche beetle, it uses all the MX5 underpinnings and the engine,

sort of .....

will do a bit more research and digging about, although i notice that MX5's are not that popular, or at least not for sale much!

And MX5 is expensive, you can get a (930) 911 for less than a late 80's Mx5
Bugger .... And there was me thinking this was a cheap option ...... Why does it have to be based on the oddball expensive car hehe

Just told today that the westfield 7 is available in Malaysia from next month, fully road legal 1600 duratec, just over 75,000 pound duty paid, I am not expecting a long line at the garage.
I can make that sound like a good deal ....

You can get the Caterham 7 CSV on the road here in singapore .... no one officially imports them but they are type approved - you won't see much change from $280k on the road ( GBP140k)

Your Westie sounds like a veritable bargain now ;-)

I believe the answer to that is yes as that is the whole origins of the Hong Kong Classic Series at Sepang, where Honkies got fed up with the local costs so moved their track toys to Sepang and fly in to race

sure Berw will be along with more details .. its been a bit tumbleweeds around here reciently so may take some time.

Where are you in Singapore?

Not yet there John, just making plans for the future. Probably 2019 although wish it were sooner.
there is a few of us PH'ers lurking here so drop us a line, sure we can sort out some alcohol abuse.

If you are looking at some petrolhead fun what you are doing makes sense.

Bring a race car from uk, and keep in Malaysia then just use uber here
