Bit of help required please.

Currently have a 40" Sony LCD (1080p - 8 years old) - This is going to be replaced, not sure yet with what but 4k system (about 55")

Its more the cinema system to support it that I need thoughts about:
Currently using an Onkyo sound base - which is brilliant compared to the tv sound.

My dilemma is what to replace the sound base with:

Option 1: AV system and 5.1 speakers (eg Denon AVRX2300 / AVRX3300 paired with Audio mass 5.1 Q Acoustics) eg. https://www.richersounds.com/package/system-savers...

Option 2: Use the Sonos 5.1 system ( Playbar, Sub, 2xPlay 1s)

Its not a huge living room but:
- Does the Sonos provide good enough 5.1 sound? Is it true 5.1?
- I prefer the theory of having only one HDMI coming from the Receiver into the TV as other components go into the AV (Virgin, Amazon Fire, Blu Ray,)

Is there any advice, things to consider?

I went for the Denon 2300 and a set of Tannoy 101XP from Richer sounds in the end. I installed it over the weekend - the cabling being the biggest issue (hiding etc).

Very impressed with the improvement over the sound base - however only gripe is that not all TV stations use a 5.1 output and you notice the difference when it switches to Stereo and not surround. Still getting to learn the settings and the kids love films now in proper 5.1 with the Sub.

Use the amps upmixing capabilities. the Dolby Surround sound protocol does quite a good job.
Will have a look when I get back - Its just been on Auto since I turned it on.
