Portable music

I'm after a bit of advice on getting a quality portable Bluetooth speaker and an iPod or simular.

I've nearly finished converting a Mercedes 814 Vario into a full time home/motorhome and rather than something fixed that uses plenty of power, I thought why not get something portable that I can take out on the boat, bbq's etc..

It will mainly be used in the back of the van for music, connected to the Avtex 12v tv to give better sound, in the cab whilst driving as there's currently no speakers and on the boat. I'm after something plenty loud enough but also good quality sound.

Also an iPod (have no idea what's about these days) with plenty of capacity. My plan was use Spotify which I already have, download as many albums as I can possibly think of and then keep it in airplane mode to conserve battery. Is this possible? Because I'm sure over time some of the songs I had downloaded for offline on my iPhone vanished?!

I've just got round to ordering a minirig this evening, can't wait for it to arrive! Going to try to pick up q second hand iPod. Which ones am I able to get Spotify on? Doesn't need to be anything fancy, will only be used for music.
