The old telly has seen better days and it's time for a new one around the same size, it was about £1k on a price match from John Lewis 10 years ago. So what spec/model should I be looking for from the likes of Richer Sounds for say around £500?

I haven't even got an android phone so tech isn't high on my list smile. I think 4k with a good picture is what I'm looking for, so is that possible for £5-600?

I have a 50" Panasonic and fancy something new too. How about a 55". Looks like your budget has crept up a little wink so one of these may be an option. http://cpc.farnell.com/hisense/55m7000/55-4k-ultra...

Oh......

Hisense have been around for quite a while now, John Lewis are happy to sell them with their big warranties. https://www.johnlewis.com/brand/hisense/_/N-1z0fy3...

Here's a Hisense review from someone who is able to run competent technical tests rather than a purely subjective What Hi-Fi / Home Cinema choice type of magazine review.

Thanks for the link. Think I'll go for an LG or Panasonic though.

Fair enough, I see the appeal of sticking with the more established brands. I'm going for a Samsung............
