I'm returning to my long lost vinyl collection and need a decent turntable as my old Technics from the early 80's had packed up when I attempted to revive it (and has since gone on the skip).

quite happy with a used table and spotted a Planar 1 on Ebay for £175 which interests me.

I have an Arcam Alpha 3 amp and Tannoy 6 speakers so need something which will ideally plug in and be compatible with them (I know nothing about Hi Fi).

Any suggestions?

..it used to run my old Technics deck so I presume it will be okay?

Great, thanks for that.

Just noticed Lintone Audio are doing an R1 as 'manufacturer refurbished' for £199 with a 2 year guarantee so will go there. The Ebay one has marks and has had a new bearing(!) so must have had some hammer and it's £175 + £8 P&P

I ordered that Lenco turntable of their site from that link on 1st May and was warned despatch was 14 days, which was fair enough

However I've not heard a dickie bird since - have I been scammed?

No, I think it's a scam website - should have checked it before clicking on it.

Contacted and no response.

It did say when I ordered that the slow boat from China would take 14 days but that's now double to date

Well, update time!

I opened a complaint with Paypal after receiving no response from the seller then, Voila, I get an email saying it will be with you tomorrow - which it was!

I'm no hi fi buff but I have to say it sounds brilliant for £115. It's very heavy - the finish is a bit budget but for the price but it does what I want it to do so I am happy. The platter seems very well made.

It certainly sounds better than my old 1980's Technics and the direct drive means no slack/worn belts to worry about.

..I'm no expert but I'm sure it has a pre amp which probably accounts for its heft
