I've currently got Sky+, and am looking to replace it with an HD PVR with no monthly subscriptions (almost certainly a HUMAX box). Ideally I would get a SKY-HD box and get freesat-from-sky, however I hate the idea of giving Sky £10 every month for the service of "not deliberately disabling my PVR".
I know that right now freesat has two HD channels (BBC and ITV via red button) whereas freeview has none, but I'm assuming that when the analogue channels are turned off then HD will come to freeview.
Is the channel lineup on freeview better than freesat?
Which one would people suggest I go for?
Apologies if this has been done to death in the past!

No HD on Freeview until the analogue switch off and then it will be limited because of bandwidth.

No Sky channels, Sky news, SS news, Sky 3, on Freesat.

I understand you can unlock the Humax box, or choose to open up all FTA channels in the menu, this will give you more channel choice but you lose the freesat EPG. I have not tried this.

If you want to get all available FTA channels then you need Freeview, Freesat and Freesat from Sky.

Check their websites for available channels.

Also, when/if Freeview HD becomes available it will require new hardware.

Ok, thanks for the advice- freesat it is. I just wish there was one pvr that had both freesat and freeview tuners!

If you buy one of the Panasonic freesat panels it is possible in the menu to tune into the sky satalitte and pick up all the FREE sky channels as well as all the ones that come with freesat!!!
