After my previous thread raving on about CD's, I've been thinking about treating myself and purchasing the Beatles Remastered box set.

Originally I thought of the Stereo release, but more and more people mention the mono release is the one to get. They talk about the originality of the recordings, but is it so obvious and is it a valid argument on modern equipment?

The mono I've also noticed is more expensive but I expect this is down to exclusivity with those customers buying both the mono and stereo sets.

Which one would be best and why? I'm curious....

If it was recorded in mono, that's the way it is intended to be heard.
I've no idea which albums were recorded in mono. The earlier ones I presume but I can't tell. A friend of mine purchased the stereo version in the Apple USB format and has "loaned" the FLAC files to me to try them out.

Quite frankly they sound amazing but I can't enjoy the full 24bit audio as my amp doesn't support this. frown

I may go for the stereo version but I'll try and get my hands on it before I buy to make my choice.
